INCOSE Academic Equivalency recognized for University of Michigan
SAN DIEGO (13 May 2021) – The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) is excited to announce the University of Michigan (U-M) has achieved Academic Equivalency. The Integrative Systems and Design courses; ISD 520, ISD 521, ISD 522, and ISD 503; help students demonstrate their systems engineering knowledge. The University of Michigan is a top-ranked engineering school in the US and achieved Academic Equivalency in February 2020.

With this equivalency in place, students who demonstrate systems engineering knowledge through approved coursework will not have to take the INCOSE Knowledge Exam to get certified as an Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) to a Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP). This knowledge demonstration is key in achieving both ASEP and CSEP certifications making this equivalency a great benefit to the University of Michigan.

Kerry Lunney, INCOSE President stated “The suite of Integrative Systems and Design courses offered by the University of Michigan demonstrates the equivalent knowledge of the INCOSE systems engineering handbook assessed through coursework. This positions the student very well to further pursue their ASEP and CSEP qualifications. This is a great result for both the University and INCOSE and provides testament of the growing collaboration between educators and INCOSE.”
