INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL ON SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

A better world through a systems approach.

The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) is a not-for-profit membership organization founded to develop and disseminate the transdisciplinary principles and practices that enable the realization of successful systems. INCOSE is designed to connect systems engineering professionals with educational, networking, and career-advancement opportunities in the interest of developing the global community of systems engineers and systems approaches to problems. We are also focused on producing state-of-the-art work products that support and enhance this discipline’s visibility in the world.

INCOSE Chapters Continue Sponsorship of Engineers Week

Feb 10, 2005, 00:00 AM by INCOSE UMS
At the 2005 International Workshop, INCOSE chapters presented a check for $3,060 to Engineers Week. Over the past four years, INCOSE chapters have contributed over $10,000 to Engineers Week to promote engineering within our communities at middle and high schools.

In 2005, Enginees Week moved from a US to an international event. In support of this effort, we are especially pleased that the South Africa Chapter contributed funds this year. The twenty-nine contributing chapters are:
  • Central Arizona
  • Central Florida
  • Central Savannah River
  • Central Virginia
  • Chesapeake
  • Colorado Front Range
  • Crossroads of America
  • Delaware Valley
  • Finger Lakes
  • Hampton Roads
  • Heartland
  • Huntsville
  • Inland Empire
  • Liberty
  • Los Angeles
  • Midwest Gateway
  • North Star
  • North Texas
  • Orlando
  • San Diego
  • San Francisco Bay Area
  • Seattle Metropolitan
  • Silver State
  • South Africa
  • Southern Maryland
  • Space Coast
  • Texas Gulf Coast
  • Washington Metro Area
In addition to providing financial support, many INCOSE chapters and individual members participate in Engineers Week activities such as, "Zoom Into Engineering", "Introduce a Girl to Engineering", "Future City Competition", “Discover “E”, and "The New Faces of Engineering".

Engineers Week, a formal coalition of more than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, and more than 50 corporations and government agencies, was founded in the United States in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers. Dedicated to raising public awareness of engineers’ positive contributions to quality of life, Engineers Week promotes recognition among parents, teachers and students of the importance of a technical education and a high level of math, science, and technology literacy, and motivates youth to pursue engineering careers in order to provide a diverse and vigorous engineering workforce. Each year Engineers Week reaches thousands of schools, businesses, and community groups.
