Abstract:
The development of requirements is critical to systems development, yet often remains enigmatic in its complexity. This presentation offers a comprehensive exploration of industry best practices in requirements development, including elicitation, analysis, validation, specification, allocation, and verification. Beginning with the foundational phase of elicitation, we’ll discuss strategies for effectively capturing and understanding stakeholder needs and desires. It provides methodologies for conducting context definition and mission analysis, ensuring that requirements are not only comprehensive but also aligned with organizational objectives and constraints. The presentation discusses techniques for validating and verifying the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of requirements, mitigating the risks associated with misunderstanding or oversight. Participants will emerge with a comprehensive toolkit for navigating the complexities of requirements development. They will also learn about critical INCOSE guides on requirements development. Whether grappling with evolving stakeholder needs, negotiating conflicting requirements, or managing changing project dynamics, attendees will possess the requisite skills and knowledge to navigate the requirements landscape with confidence and efficacy.
