Model Portfolio Management Guide is Published
SAN DIEGO (December 8, 2023) – The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) is pleased to announce the launch of a new publication.
This guide defines the roles, tasks, and products to assist organizations in ensuring that their collection of models aligns with organizational needs, has a planned evolution, meets integration targets, identifies known risks, fulfills quality assurance requirements, and can be used to establish and implement modeling best practices and standards throughout their organization. A model manager collaborates with program managers, project managers, systems engineering managers, and the modelers responsible for their models to oversee a collection of models throughout the modeling lifecycle.
This guide serves as a valuable reference document for the pre-award acquisition process (from market research through source selection), can be included in a bidder’s reference library, is a key resource in proposal preparation instructions, and can be used as a relevant document in the final contract award.
The guide covers the following sections:
- Model Portfolio Management Initiation
- Model Portfolio Management Planning
- Model Portfolio Management Execution
- MPM Monitoring and Control
The Model Portfolio Management Guide has been authored by the Tool Integration and Model Lifecycle Management Working Group of INCOSE. This working group focuses on integrating and interoperating tools, data, models, and processes as they relate to systems engineering processes and methods throughout the acquisition and product development life cycles.
Misak Zetilyan, Project Leader for this publication said, “In today's data-driven world, models play a pivotal role in decision-making, forecasting, and innovation across industries. This guide will help define how organizations manage models, offering insights into roles, tasks, and best practices to ensure model collections align with organizational needs and standards.”
