The US National Academy of Engineering (NAE) has launched a project (www.engineeringchallenges.org) aimed at determining the “Grand Challenges” for Engineering during the next 100 years and, perhaps, beyond. Experts around the world are invited to contribute to this brainstorming exercise. The best 20 ideas will be selected by a committee of eminent representatives of the engineering profession and announced in September 2007.
