CALL FOR PAPERS
JOINT SPECIAL SESSION ON
The Future of Systems Engineering
SMC’19
October 6-9, 2019 – Bari, Italy
Session Organizers:
Dr. Christopher Nemeth, Applied Research Associates, Inc. E-mail: [email protected]
Dr. Edward Tunstel, United Technologies Research Center, E-mail: [email protected]
Prof. Rodney Roberts, Florida State University, E-mail: [email protected]
Dr. Adrian Stoica, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, E-mail: [email protected]
Session area: Systems Science & Engineering
Systems engineering matured as a practice-based discipline of large complex sectors such as aerospace and military system development. The discipline was fit for purpose for systems of complexity and scale in that earlier era and is now confronted by exponential increases in systems tempo, scale, complexity, volatility, and nondeterminism, which points to the need for new approaches. Inclusion of integrated research including human performance will enable rapid iterations for more dynamic, effective solutions. This special session will build on the evolving relationship between the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society by inviting respective insights on the future of systems engineering from both development and research points of view.
