About the Presentation:
The Department of Defense mandates Systems Engineering be employed on all production projects. The Naval Air Warfare Center Training and Simulation Division (NAWCTSD) is located in Orlando just South of UCF. NAWCTSD is the Navy's technical authority for training and simulation systems. To accomplish this mission all training and simulation programs must use an established systems engineering process accompanied by independent technical reviews. This presentation will provide an overview of the NAWCTSD Systems Engineering and Technical Review (SETR) process while soliciting audience feedback on the process efficiency and approach. The goal of this presentation is to stimulate discussion and interchange of ideas with industry and academia to identify areas of more efficient alignment while educating attendees on the current NAWCTSD SETR process.

About the Speaker:
HD currently serves as a Branch Manager at Naval Air Warfare Center, Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD). He graduated from UCF with Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineer, Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Master's Degree in Management from Webster University. He initially worked for Naval Sea Systems Command in Virginia in 1989 until recruited by NAVAIR and moved back to Orlando in 1997.
His experience working for the Navy includes Overhaul of US Navy Ships, Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Sonar Equipment, Fire Control equipment, Shipboard Computer systems, NAVSEA digitization initiatives for USN Schoolhouses at Great Lakes (IL), Nuclear RADCON School in Portsmouth, VA and many other schoolhouses across the US. Once with NAVAIR, HD supported the construction and modernization the Peacekeeping Forces in Mongolia, India, Bangladesh, Ukraine, Thailand, Romania, Poland and Slovakia. He was part of the initial few team members that established the NASMP Standard, CIGI Standard, and SISO Data Link Standard. He was the Lead Engineer for USN Helicopter Simulation and Training. In addition to civilian works, he is the NAVAIR Wounded Warrior Recruiter and NAVAIR Asian American Pacific Islander Team Lead. He serves on the City of Orlando and Orange County Veterans Advisory Council. He is also an active member of DoD's 50th Vietnam War Commemoration.
