INCOSE Colorado Front Range Chapter (FRC) is happy to announce a joint American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)-INCOSE FRC meeting at Denver’s Wings Over The Rockies Air and Space Museum. AIAA and FRC are very fortunate to have Wings Over The Rockies host and are proud to welcome Dr. Merri Sanchez, Senior Director of Space Exploration Systems, Space Systems Group, Sierra Nevada Corporation. Light appetizers and beverages will be provided.
Speaker Background
Dr. Sanchez has over 28 years of experience as a NASA engineer and manager. She was selected to the NASA Senior Executive Service in 2009. Dr. Sanchez joined Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Space System’s Group as the Senior Director for Space Exploration Systems in July 2010, where she managed the Dream Chaser Program. She is currently Senior Director of Business Operations on the Space Systems Group Executive Staff. Serving as "Chief of Staff" to the corporate Vice President she undertakes special projects throughout the business area including a senior advisory role for the Dream Chaser. She also taught master's level Astrodynamics for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs; Mechanical & Aerospace Department. Dr. Sanchez earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1985, a Master of Science degree in Physical Sciences (specialty Planetary Geology) from the University of Houston at Clear Lake in 1989, a Master of Mechanical Engineering (specialty Fluid Dynamics) from the University of Houston in 1994, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Industrial Engineering (specialty Zero-G Human Factors) from the University of Houston in 1999. She was recently selected as the Texas A&M Outstanding Aerospace Engineer and member of the Distinguished Aerospace Engineering Alumni Academy. Dr. Sanchez is an AIAA Fellow.
