Spring 2014 Tutorial - Agile Systems and Systems Engineering

Colorado Springs , USA
4435 North Chestnut Street

Rick DoveThe Colorado Front Range Chapter of INCOSE is offering a one-day tutorial on Agile Systems and Systems Engineering by Mr. Rick Dove, of Paradigm Shift International, on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Mr. Dove is the Chairman for Paradigm Shift International and a Professor for the Stevens Institute of Technology School of Systems and Enterprise. The objective of this one day tutorial is to review the basic engineering concepts that enable agility in systems of all kinds, and to introduce advanced concepts of self-organizing agility with examples in natural systems and the systems-security domain.

The tutorial is open to INCOSE members and non-members. INCOSE Colorado Chapter members please note that the early registration deadline is February 15.

Please refer to the linked Spring Tutorial flyer to register for this event.

Tutorial Overview

Research throughout the ’90s, funded by the US Government, examined hundreds of systems that exhibited the capability to survive and thrive under unpredictable and uncertain conditions. This capability was called Agility, and the focus of the research was on discovering fundamental systems engineering principles that enabled that capability. It was found that agility is enabled and maintained by a fundamentally necessary and sufficient common architecture in systems of all kinds; from agile development and deployment, to the agile systems and products that are deployed. A commons set of ten design principles were also discovered, as were effective methods for conducting the conceptual design effort. The objective of this one day tutorial is to review the basic engineering concepts that enable agility in systems of all kinds, and to introduce advanced concepts of self-organizing agility with examples in natural systems and the systems-security domain.

Presenter

Rick Dove is the Chairman for Paradigm Shift International and a Professor for the Stevens Institute of Technology School of Systems and Enterprise. Rick was co-PI on the original work which identified Agility as the next competitive differentiator and was funded by the US Office of the Secretary of Defense through the Navy in 1991 at Lehigh University.

Registration

The cost is $60 for INCOSE regular members, $30 for INCOSE Senior members and for students, and $100 for other non-members.
