Organizational Accidents, Perception of Risk, and Human Decision
Topic: Organizational Accidents, Perception of Risk, and Human Decision

Abstract: Humans in High Reliability organizations make decisions based on their perceptions of the situation and the risks of any given solution. Their ability to make decisions that have good outcomes varies from day to day, and is a function of many interrelated factors. This presentation will illustrate many of those factors, and increase the audience's understanding and awareness of human factors in complex system operations.
About the Presenter: David Fuller has been operating complex aero and space systems for over 30 years at NASA, FAA, ESA, and Space Systems/Loral. He holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University, is an Associate Fellow of AIAA, and is a past Chair of the AIAA Space Operations and Support Technical Committee. He is also the Glenn Research Center representative to the NASA Human Systems Integration Steering Committee. He has studied human factors in realtime environments for over 15 years.
