Join us for the Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Workshop to be held in conjunction with the INCOSE International Workshop (on 25-26 January 2007 at Embassy Suites Hotel Albuquerque (the same location as INCOSE IW 2007).

The goals for the workshop are to provide a forum to:
  • Review the INCOSE MBSE Vision 2020
  • Share strategies among practitioners, educators and researchers for making the MBSE Vision a reality
  • Identify enhancements to the vision
  • Determine attributes that users need from MBSE tools to address different system life-cycle stages and system level views
  • Discuss requirements for the enabling technology infrastructures to support MBSE
  • Refine actions that INCOSE can take to achieve the vision
The key characteristics of MBSE in 2020 include:
  • Domain specific languages and visualization that enable the systems engineer to focus on abstract modeling of the user domain
  • Modeling standards based on a firm mathematical foundation that support high fidelity simulation and real world representations
  • Extensive reuse of model libraries, taxonomies, and design patterns
  • Standards that support integration and management across a distributed model repository
  • Highly reliable and secure data exchange via published interfaces
From Systems Engineering Vision 2020 (download the Vision 2020 from the Major Projects Forum on INCOSE Connect)
The scope and supporting infrastructure of MBSE includes modeling from operational to system and component level, and across the full system life cycle as indicated below.
  • System Level Models

    • System
    • Components
  • Life-cycle stages
    • Pre-concept exploratory research Stage
    • Concept Stage
    • Development Stage
    • Production Stage
    • Utilization Stage
    • Support Stage
    • Retirement Stage
  • Enabling Technology Infrastructure
