Sponsored by the Finger Lakes Chapter, Rochester will offer a robust technical program. The theme is "Bridging Industry, Government, and Academia," which was chosen to highlight the need to move beyond the thinking that system engineering is just something for large government systems. The region's strong commercial business base uses system engineering to be competitive, and the IS2005 goal is to significantly increase the number of commercial papers in this conference to provide a rich forum for sharing best practices with government and academia. Both government and commercial-based companies, as well as universities who provide the talent we hire, are striving to meet better, faster, cheaper mantra. Yet, there is still the need to maintain efficient and effective methods as we develop products and skills, and reach toward new markets.
