Happy Anniversary! Wright Brothers Chapter 2025: We've been active for a Year!

Feb 18, 2025, 12:19 PM by David S Long, President, Wright Brothers Chapter
We've been active for a year now and we're taking on our theme of "SE: Back to the Basics" in 2025.

At our January 2025 meeting, we had our one-year anniversary of monthly meetings.  During the year, we had 10 meetings where we had guest speakers on a variety of topics including Digital Engineering transitions, how a company could set up a systems engineering function, technical leadership, and a talk from authors talking about their recently published book.

In February, we are moving the meeting to the University of Dayton's Kettering Lab.  We are having a meet and greet with our newly-formed UD Student Section.

Looking forward to the rest of 2025, we are planning talks and activities around the theme of "Systems Engineering: Back to Basics" where we will explore and discuss some of the SE foundations and systems thinking that are important in our field.  Some days we get caught up in the shiny tools and let some of the basics slide.  Let's not let that happen!  We plan to focus on the foundations and the concepts covered in the INCOSE SE Handbook (5th edition).

To kick off the basics, we'll meet with students who are exploring SE as undergraduate and graduate students.  In March we are planning a talk from a recent MS Systems Engineering graduate who will show us his research.  After that, we'll be hitting the [Hand]books!
