Brief:
We hear a lot these days about those “digital” siblings, “twin” and “thread”, and they seem to be new elements of the fabric of product design, but are they really? And do they have significance to systems engineering, and its cousin model-based systems engineering (MBSE), or not?
Do these concepts stand alone, or what dependencies are key to getting the value from such an approach?
We will look at the digital twin, or really the many faces of the twin (triplets, quads…), and the essential continuity of information that can be considered as the digital thread.
The digital twin today is frequently related to an ‘as-implemented’ mirror of a completed artifact, and so how does that relate to systems engineering, MBSE and the activities of systems engineers and INCOSE?
Our Presenter:
Bill Chown is product line director for System Level Engineering at Mentor Graphics, a Siemens business, working on new approaches for systems life cycle management, and responsible for OSLC-based integrated tool solutions for electronic system design, and more. A thirty-plus year systems engineer and EDA industry veteran, Bill specializes in system-level design and analysis across technology disciplines and has a particular interest in standards for systems engineering and design. He is currently also CIO of INCOSE, and a member of the OASIS OSLC Project Governing Board.
Join Early:
Just as we would in a physical meeting, join us early and chat about your favorite systems engineering topic. The meeting link will open 15 minutes before the main meeting starts to allow some ‘social’ time.
