Alexandra Kowalski, Services Manager

Agave Distillation System

- Alex's Favorite System

Alexandra (Alex) was born & raised in San Diego, CA; where she also attended college to stay close to her family. Throughout her college years and beyond, Alex has never said “no” to a new opportunity for growth; her early career experiences were in finance, customer service, operations, and restaurant management. These fields have allowed her to cultivate her ability to communicate effectively, collaborate seamlessly, and adapt to evolving circumstances quickly. She plans to bring these attributes to her current role as the Services Manager at the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE).

Alex has had ties to INCOSE for most of her life, but she officially joined the UMS team in January 2020 as the Assistant Operations Manager. During this time, she was able to learn about all the interconnected pieces of INCOSE and how the organization functions on a day-to-day basis. But she believes the most important piece that she saw was the passion that the volunteers have about INCOSE and systems engineering; seeing this integral part of the organization made it easy for her to want to continue to work with these individuals. In January 2024, she accepted her new role of Services Manager, as a full-time staff member of INCOSE. She plans to use the operational knowledge she gained during her time as a contractor to grow and elevate the current Services Portfolio to bring the most value possible to our global membership and help advance the mission of INCOSE.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time with her one-year-old puppy, Gus Gus, relaxing with a crossword puzzle, and doing Pilates with her best friend. She still works a few shifts at the Mexican Restaurant that she started at when she was 17 as a bartender and manager; this ensures that she continues to develop / maintain her “people skills”.
